If I paddle at all this weekend it will need to involve at most a short/easy carry to/from the river (while still recovering from an ankle injury last month). Consequently I am on the fence where boating is concerned (and the Upper West is definitely out). Driving Saturday morning to Jamaica to run the class I-II Lower West would be a possibility. With an early start it would be possible (desirable) to get in 2 laps on this 3.5 mile stretch. Is anyone planning to run the Lower West this weekend? We would need 2 cars at least in order to set shuttle, but car-pooling from the Richmond Park and Ride (I89, exit 11) and splitting the cost of gas holds appeal*. Cloudy and breezy with a high of 59 degrees is what they are saying for Saturday. I would aim to return home after paddling Saturday even though it's a 2-day release weekend.
