NO WEST RIVER WHITEWATER RELEASE WILL TAKE PLACE SPRING OR FALL 2021. For more information, read below.
We were recently notified by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that there will be no scheduled recreational water releases on the West River from the Ball Mountain Dam in 2021. The Army Corps is in the process of completing a construction project which requires the pool behind the dam to be kept at winter levels; this eliminates their ability to store water for releases. There may be unscheduled releases related to storm events throughout the spring and summer dependent on local weather conditions.
[There is in fact a 1,500 cfs release underway right now, from April 30 through May 2. The park is open.]
