I’m no longer free to take Friday 7/26 off from work. Round figures, our last Batiscan trip - 7 of us - I think we each put in about $100 for gas, food, and the nature preserve camping permit (for our 2 night/3 day trip). And the one-way train ticket from Riviere-a-Pierre to Lac Edouard (VIArail) is still about $20 per person - plus whatever they charge extra per boat in the baggage car. Train departs at 12:34pm, so it's imperative that you get going early Friday morning to 1) get a car spotted at the take-out and 2) pay for a camping permit at the ranger station in Riviere-a-Pierre. It's a ~4 hour drive from the Georgia Park and Ride (I89 exit 18) - not bad at all.
The online gauge spiked over 80 cms last week. Currently it's maybe 45 cms - close to its typical/historical low summer flow. We did it one summer weekend when it was dropping from 90 to 70 and that was sweet - only a little canoe repair needed afterward. They say it runs all summer.
