I89, exit 3, then west on VT107 to/through Bethel. PLEASE email or call me today if you are coming Saturday, so I know who to expect.

There's a description of this section of the White River on the AW website, and myriad* VPC trip reports describing the upper White (aka "Stockbridge to Bethel"), though Irene changed the river course in places (2012). At levels below 1900 cfs on the downstream (West Hartford) gauge it will be bony, and 2500-5000 cfs would be better. Right now it stands at 1360 cfs, but rain is forecast for today and it's going to stay above freezing overnight tonight.

The plan is to meet at the take-out at 10:30am, leave cars there, and be on the water before 11:30am. I expect everyone will have class II whitewater experience, will wear either a wetsuit or drysuit and a helmet, and have some floatation in their canoe or kayak in case of a flip/swim. Bring a snack or a sandwich in your drybag. If you need to talk to me about your preparedness, my number appears on the VPC Events and Trips page. Here are the coordinates for the take-out (where we will meet) and the put-in. There is another put-in just upstream of the VT100 bridge, but the field where we park there may still be too snowy/muddy Saturday.

Takeout: 43.79849162878327,-72.66312813987882
Put-in (Tweed River/trib): 43.77549438870133,-72.75735769402215

* like this one from 1994 that began: "As usual, it never got as warm as advertised, but the nuts were out anyway. The river was high enough to cover most of the rocks and make an enjoyable run."
