The USGS gauge in Plattsburgh showed almost exactly 5.25 feet during our time on the river, and dropped only slightly over the course of the day. We put on just before 1:00 pm, and arrived at the takeout at ~3:10.
We had a group of 4 — me, Jeremy Anderson (Colchester), Charlie Beyer (Lincoln), and Chris Frost (East Montpelier). Jeremy and Charlie were new to the run.
With the upcoming rain the Saranac may remain runnable for a while, although the trees are taking their share of the water now. The water is still fairly cold; I would guess around 50. It should warm up fairly quickly from now on. With an air temp in the low 70s, drysuits with minimal layering underneath worked well. (We didn't zip up until after walking the 200 yard put-in trail.)
