Hi Taylor,

Dick Trudell was an adventurous paddler with the VPC (then the NVCC) and he might be worth contacting. I think he still lives in Richmond. Steve Page in Williston is another former VPC member who was game for first descents back in the day. I have archived Bow and Stern issues going back to 1975 on the website, and you may well find some interesting trip reports if you look through this archive. Here's one limerick from an old Bow and Stern, in which Dick Trudell gets a mention...

In Class I and II I do well
In III and IV, I give it hell
But I'm stayin' alive
By avoiding Class V
And leaving Class VI to Trudell.
