I am hoping not to find Joe's raging on Tuesday morning the way it was on Sunday...or bone zone. Joe's level, as many know, can be feast or famine. Plan "B", if we find Joe's hopelessly low or frighteniningly high, is the II-III Moose from Victory all the way to Concord VT.
If I can find the phone number, I will phone GMP dispach to ask about the Joe's Pond and dam bladder heights, plus how much they expect to have flowing through the penstock. For now, the meeting time/place is 10:30 am Tuesday 4/18 at the wayside where US2 and VT15 meet in West Danville (@ the Joe's Pond dam). If you arrive after 10:30 am and we aren't there, drive east on US2 another 300 yards and turn right down Power Plant Rd to to actual put-in spot. Setting shuttle takes a little while because Joe's is such a long and remote run, but I expect to be on the water around noon. I really only want to have strong paddlers, with a pretty reliable combat roll, as many of the rapids are long/complex and Scott Gilbert has reported some wood to contend with. The ice bridge in the lower gorge is also, apparently, still a hazard.
Am counting the minutes...
